Configuring a computer for Wireless access at Tufts

To use Tufts' wireless network, you will need to purchase a wireless Ethernet card for your PC or Macintosh if one did not come built into the laptop. The card must support the IEEE 802.11b or 802.11g standard.

For any operating system other than Windows XP Professional or Macintosh, use the card utility to set up the card and add the Sevice Set Identifier. The SSID for Tufts University is tuftswireless.

Tufts wireless network requires that your laptop use a DHCP configuration. After installing the wireless card, make sure it is highlighted and configure it using the DHCP instructions for your operating system from Network Engineering.
